Fabric Origami Heart Hair Clip Tutorial

With Valentine's Day only a week away, I'm going to show you guys how to make this super cute fabric origami heart hair clip. This is a great project for all those fabric scraps you might have lying around!

Here's What You'll Need:
  • 1- 5"x 5" Piece of Fabric
  • 1- 4"x 4" Piece of Felt
  • 1- 1 1/2"x 1/2" Piece of Felt
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Glue Stick
  • Iron
  • Ironing Board
  • Scissors
  • Alligator Clip or Barrette

Step 1: Get your 5"x 5" piece of fabric and your iron and press down 1/4" on all the sides towards the wrong side of the fabric.

Step 2: Grab your glue gun and just put a dab of glue on all the corners of the fabric to make the pressed edges a little more secure. Next, bring it to the ironing board and lie it down to look like a diamond.

Step 3: Fold the diamond in half, bringing the two points together. Press.

Step 4: Open it back up and repeat for the other side so you are left with a creased X.

Step 5: Now fold the top point until it meets the crease in the center. Press.

Step 6: Fold the bottom point to meet the top. Press.

Step 7: Fold the right side to meet the crease in the center. Repeat for the left side. Press and glue both sides down for security.

Step 8: Turn your heart around to the back and make tiny triangles on both sides and glue down. Then, fold the two points on the top towards the bottom and glue down.

Step 9: On the back of your heart, put a tiny layer of glue around the edges and place down on the felt. Apply pressure to fasten.

Step 10: Cut around the felt to match the shape of your heart. Then, grab the 1 1/2" x 1/2" piece of felt, put glue on one end, and attach to the back of the heart.

Step 11: Put glue on the opposite side of the small piece of felt, sandwich your clip in between, and glue down. Or stitch on a barrette instead.

And Your Finished!
