My name is Jessica and I grew up in the good ol' state of New Jersey. Growing up I was never satisfied with clothing in stores, and frankly was too poor to buy anything that wasn't in a thrift store. So as an early teen I starting ripping up my clothes, safety pinning them and trying to look different then everyone else.
Then 10th grade of high school, I learned how to sew. This was the most exciting time in my life (other then meeting the love of my life). So I starting sewing all my prom and homecoming dresses. That is when I decided, designing clothing was my passion. At this time, I also was starting to really get into Rockabilly and Psychobilly Music. I had a great fascination with the 50's and Brian Setzer from the Stray Cats. Because of this, for my senior picture, I tried to imitate Brian Setzer's hairstyle without cutting off my hair.
A close friend of mine came up to me and started pondering. He said, "Hmm, this is not a Mohawk, this is not a Fohawk......I know, this is a Poofhawk!"...I loved it! I knew this was going to be the name of my clothing brand. So, later on, I starting studying Fashion Design at The Art Institute of Philadelphia. Now, I design, make patterns, construct, and photograph all garments for Poofhawk.
Poofhawk's mission is to beat soundly out of the fate of fashion. Providing handmade, one-of-a-kind, rockabilly, psychobilly, retro and punk clothing and accessories to the individualistic, artistic, imaginative, easily amused, and totally insane beings of this world. Poofhawk promises high-quality merchandise and exceptional customer service. You will be attacked with kindness until you PARTY WITH POOFHAWK!!!
